Everyone deserves a break from daily life and the 9 to 5 jobs that most people slave away at. The thing is, not everyone can afford to go for a vacation and have an opportunity to escape and refresh their minds. Or can they? We’re so hell bent on the standard definition of a ‘vacation’ that most of the time we overlook the fact that there are actually other options. There are ways in which you can have a great getaway and not have to spend all your savings doing so. This is why we’re going to give you a couple of tips on how to have a low cost vacation.

Look out for cheap ticket deals

There are actually a couple of ways for you to pay less for your airplane tickets. You’ll find that if you prefer a specific airline, then perhaps you need to change the way in which you purchase your ticket. If you’re someone who likes to use Saudi Airlines, try to look for tickets using sites that can offer you packages or deals. These websites are sometimes able to utilize discounts and special rates so before you rush into buying your ticket, shop around first. Another really good idea is to book the ticket a couple of months in advance, this too could help in lowering the price. You should also consider joining a reward program. These may take time, but eventually you can gain free tickets from these points.

Alternatives to hotels

You don’t have to limit yourself to only looking at pricey hotels. Keep in mind that most of the day, you’re going to be out exploring the city and technically speaking, you just need a decent place to sleep. There are a lot of sites like AirBnb that allows locals who own homes to rent it out to people. These are usually very nice homes that are well taken care of and are extremely affordable. The same goes for local Bed and Breakfast establishments. Not only will you be saving money, but you’ll also be helping a local business stay standing on its feet by promoting its services.

Location matters

We often look into the cliche cities that everyone in the world raves on about. You could save a ton of money by thinking outside the box and looking into countries and cities that are not usually known or visiting. The overall trip will be cheaper, but the experience will be much more exciting and you’ll have done something that not many people do.

It’s important that we never lose our sense of adventure and that we don’t forget that we all need time off. Just because you don’t have a ton of money, doesn’t mean that this doesn’t apply to you too. There are plenty of ways to explore the world around without having to spend a ridiculous amount of money, you just need to explore avenues that are not usually taken. Keep in mind the season, location and the method of travel as well, and of course, where you stay and eat out. All these things, if looked into carefully, don’t have to take a load off your wallet if you travel smart.
