How to make the most of your stay in St Julian’s, Malta

St Julian’s is a well-known destination on Malta. It is a lively and bustling coastal resort which can be found in the east of the island and it is just a short drive from the international airport and just 20 minutes drive from the beautiful and historic capital city of Valletta. You must visit the capital city whilst you are there – you can book excursions and tours or take the bus and explore it at your own pace.

St Julian’s sprang up from a small fishing village in a sheltered little cove and has grown to be one of Malta’s most popular resorts and is now divided into different areas. It still has an old quarter around the old fishing village and harbour on Spinola Bay. This is the best place to enjoy a meal, especially local seafood, as it is full of little restaurants overlooking the water and fishing boats. It is very pretty in the evening with all the lights. Along from the centre is Paceville used to be home to the military barracks which have now been converted and it is now the nightime centre of St Julian’s and this is where you can find all the nightclubs, bars and some restaurants. Ten minutes walk from the centre lies the small sandy beach of St George’s Bay. This does get busy so you can either head to a more secluded rocky cove or use one of the local swimming pools for a refreshing dip.

There is a wide range of accommodation for visitors in St Julian’s and is does have a lot of modern buildings to cater for the number of tourists they have. You can find everything to suit you from some modern hotels with lots of swimming pools and large restaurants down to small boutique hotels in old historic buildings. What you book is up to you – do you want a sea view or to be close to the nightlife in Malta? But whatever you do, you will certainly enjoy your holiday in this lively resort.
