The summer vacation season is fast approaching and whilst planning your vacation, you must also consider who will look after your house and pets while you are away from home. It is important to make sure your home is occupied to prevent robberies and vandalism of the property. It will be less traumatic for the family pets if they can remain in the same environment and not be placed in strange boarding facilities.

Consider hiring a house sitter from a reputable agency that screens individuals for this job. House sitters often are also wanting to vacation in a new location. They will apply to a house sitter agency to find homes that they can stay for free in a new location. They usually get utilities and various other amenities that are part of the house sitting package.

Sometimes house sitters are paid and they may get paid if they provide extra tasks. Some of the extra tasks might include caring for pets or providing lawn care. Occasionally, a client will pay the transportation costs for a house sitter to travel to the home location. In most cases, house sitting is a way for the house sitter to have a low cost vacation in a new place.

The house sitter system benefits both parties in the transaction. House sitters get a free or inexpensive vacation. Home or apartment owners can be sure their home, pets and property are safe and receiving proper care. It is important for both the house sitter and home owner to do proper research before working together.

A house sitter should sign up with a reputable agency that assists with finding suitable jobs and locations. The agency should be experienced and knowledgeable about verifying the home owners so ask around your friends and family for recommendations. The house sitter will want to be in a safe location and work for honest home owners. The house sitter agency should have a criminal history check completed on the home owners for the house sitters safety.

The agency will allow the potential sitter to set up a personal profile on their website and it’s recommended that potential sitters add their professional photos, info and profile on to the site. They should also have references for the clients to contact. The agency will also complete a criminal history background check on the applicant to ensure complete peace of mind for the home owners. Both sitters and home owners should communicate before signing a written contract.
