A UK based charity has sent nine celebrities to climb Mount Kilimanjaroin Tanzania, West Africa. It’s part of a host of fund raising activities for Red Nose Day, which is held every year in the UK and raises money for projects around the world.
Kilimanjaro is an inactive volcano in north eastern Tanzania and is 4,600 meters tall (15,100 feet). There are several trekking routes up there including Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, Umbwe and Machame. The good news is that the routes vary in difficulty with Marangu even being classed as ‘easy’ and with accommodation on the way!
We don’t want you to feel any pressure but the world record for ascent was completed in a mere 5 hours and 38 minutes. And once you reach the summit there is also GSM mobile network coverage up there!
So what are you waiting for? Give it a go, whether for charity or the sheer thrill of boasting that you have climbed the might Kili.
