Kuwait Holidays – Tours & Adventure Travel Guide

PureTravel Says
“With Iraq to the north and west along with Saudi Arabia to the southwest, Kuwait is located in the Middle East on the head of Arabian Gulf. Kuwait has six provinces; Al Ahmadi, Al Farwaniyah, Al 'Asimah, Al Jahra', Hawalli and Mubarak Al Kabeer. Kuwait City is the capital, Arabic is the official language and Kuwaiti Dinar is the currency of Kuwait. It spreads on an area of 17,820 km2 and has a diverse population."

Highlights

Fishing and Boating - Because of close proximity to water, Kuwait offers a variety of options for adventurous water sports. Fishing is one of the favored sports in here because of the presence of a variety of fish species with six different types of sharks, four types of tuna and mackerel, two types of barracuda and ray fish. The availability of soles, snappers, catfish, breams, flounders, puffers and needlefish makes fishing more interesting.

Along with fishing, boating is another good option to spend some quality time in Kuwait. When you talk about boats and Kuwait, you just can not neglect the Kuwait Boat Show International. In 2008, more than 12000 people attended the show to see more than 200 boats and yachts. Fahaheel Waterfront - Al Kout was the location for this show and if you are coming to Kuwait, don’t forget to pay a visit to this location.

Desert Biking and Camel Racing - While in Kuwait, the adventure will remain incomplete without experiencing the joy of desert biking. Since Friday is a off day in Kuwait, you can find hoards of people coming out of their home to have fun in open deserts on the Saudi border. To take part in desert biking, just get in touch with the Desert Biking Club of Kuwait.

Just like desert biking, camel racing is another sport that is associated with Kuwait and Arabs for that matter. To see this thrilling sport, you need to visit al-Atraf, J'leeb al-Shuyoukh and Ahmadi. Al-Atraf Camel Racing Club is another place to witness for the most popular races. The site of 60 camels running for the distance of six kilometers is really worth watching. The best thing about this camel race is that most of the event organizers allow you to feast your eyes without paying a penny.

Swimming - Because of the long coastline and multitudes of beaches, Kuwait allows you to spend some nice time in all types of water sports including fishing, sailing, diving, scuba diving, boating, windsurfing and swimming. Swimming is probably one of the great activities for many people but do take care while swimming Kuwait as you may encounter stone fish, sea urchins, jelly fish, etc. Moreover, the presence of sea snakes can poses a certain amount of threat although they are kept away from the shore due to strong currents.

Visiting the Parks - Just next to the beautiful Kuwait Towers, you will be presented with a place named Aqua Park. This water village will surely satisfy your thirst of sitting close to the water. Since it is the first and the biggest water park in the Arab Gulf region, so, it has number of facilities like separate mosques for both men and women, separate changing rooms, sprinklers for cool showers and so on.

As well as visiting this amazing park, you must explore the Entertainment City, which is just like Disney Land. With as many as 40 rides, it provides amazing entertainment for people of all ages.

Ice-Skating - Apparently it seems impossible to imagine finding snow in Kuwait as the climate is fairly hot, but you can still manage to spend some time skating in TEC's Ice-Skating Rink. There is a small as well as an Olympic size skating floor, which allow you to test your skating skills in the perfect way.

When to Go

The best time to visit Kuwait is May and October because both of these months allow you spend your Kuwait holidays in right temperature. Winter months however are better to travel to Kuwait, as the temperature remains around 60 degree F.

Top Tips

  • While visiting the Aqua Park, you are not allowed to take any food or beverages in with you.
  • Use of a camera is not allowed in the park.
  • For women, it is essential to be in the right attire while swimming.

Classic Itineraries

  • Traveling to Aqua Park through Kuwait Towers.
  • Visiting the Al-Atraf Camel Racing Club for camel racing.
