Turks and Caicos Islands Holidays - Tours & Adventure Travel Guide

The Turks and Caicos are often shortened to TCI for ease and lie in the West Indies. TCI are well known as a tropical holiday destination and are actually a British Overseas territory. The islands of Turks and Caicos are only 90 minutes from Miami in the USA, just over 1,000 kilometers or 640 miles and American travelers often take Turks and Caicos vacations. The islands have a population of around 36,000 people and the capital is Cockburn Town.

The 'Caribbean' usually refers to the Caribbean Sea, the actual Caribbean islands and the coasts which sit on the Caribbean Sea. The area was named the West Indies in 1492 after explorer Christopher Columbus thought he had landed in Asia, in the Indies.
