Things to Do in Budapest: How to Get the Most out of your Trip

  • May 8, 2025
  • Jules

Budapest is a wonderful city known for its rich history, its amazing food, and of course its great party scene. If you are visiting, you better prepare a plan because you might get overwhelmed by all the opportunities. Here are some of our favourite programs, which will scratch all the right parts of the traveller in you!

The essence of Hungary

If you ask a Hungarian person about the essence of the country, they will most likely mention at least one dish. Hungarians love to eat and have some truly amazing food to offer you! If you want to experience it first-hand without hunting for fancy restaurants, just visit the Great Market Hall!

The ground floor offers dozens of stands filled with fresh, local fruits and vegetables, as well as a few vendors offering strudel, dairy products, or paprika. The floor below has some great pickles, as well as fresh fish. But the real fun awaits you on the upper floor! With tons of restaurants and food stalls, you can try just about any traditional Hungarian food from gulyás to lángos. It would be a mistake to miss out on it!

City tour and exercise

Budapest is full of beautiful sights, so when you are ready, put your walking shoes on and get going! Take a nice stroll around the Parliament, visit the Basilica, then walk through Chain Bridge and climb up to the Buda Castle! Once you are up there, it will be nothing going over to the Fisherman’s Bastion – but even if you get tired, the view will definitely be worth it! Combine your daily exercise with the rich history of the city, explore all the local cafes and pubs and have a great day walking around!

The world-famous nightlife

If there is one more thing Budapest is known for, then it is the nightlife. You have probably already heard of the amazing ruin bars and they are definitely a must if you are staying here. Book a room in The Hive Party Hostel and join one of their pub crawls! The guide will take you through the best places in town, introducing some hidden gems and helping you have the time of your life. Join the buzz and have the best Budapest trip imaginable with The Hive!
