Many of us prefer to have a cat following us on our precious vacation. However, we need to be sure that our little friends are feeling comfortable with this change and they will not have issues relocating.

In this short article, we are going to give some tips on how to make our cat feel comfortable during the trip. This will allow us to have the best possible time with our cat and relieve the frustration coming from a grumpy cat that will moan all day long as the trip could make it unhappy.

Make Your Cat Familiar With Travel

At first, it would be a good idea to make our cat familiar with travel. There is no chance to get on a bus trip with our cat without having her exposed to a car trip first. The first car trip with our cat should be short to ensure it adapts right away to the new situation. Cats are very sensitive pets in moving vehicles, and they need to get used to this situation. As a result, getting our car on longer trips using our car is the first and most crucial step to introduce it to bigger trips and have her feel more comfortable when moving on a bus.

Take the advice of Your Vet

Another great tip would be to take our vet’s advice. These doctors are great in offering us the perfect method to get our cat on the move. They will easily prescribe drugs that will make them feel better during the trip without feeling nausea or dizziness. Vets may also suggest the right time of the day to perform the trip so that the cat may feel a lot better, either during the day or at night. According to the season, we may have to adjust the trip hours so that the cat is not aggravated by extreme heat or cold. These are some useful things we need to discuss with our veterinary doctor, who knows our cat better than anyone else.

Regularly Stop for Rest and Rehydration

Cats usually get frustrated because of their dehydration. If they could talk to you, they would surely ask for some water during the trip. So, it’s essential for cat owners to keep in mind offering some generous portions of water for their cats every hour or so. Remember that cats can easily get dehydrated, and during summertime, this could pose a significant danger to their overall health. If you are the driver, make sure to take some short breaks during the long road trip to let your cat replenish itself with fresh water and allow it to urinate in the proper place.

Ensure the Safety and Security of Your Cat

Many cats have issues with moving vehicles because they feel insecure. For that reason, it’s so wrong to just place your cat in the passenger seat without properly fastening it to the car using suitable belts.

Cats are very sensitive to balance changes, and they get mad when they are in an accelerating vehicle. So, the best possible deal for getting on vacation with your cat would be to safely place it in the passenger seat using the dedicated safety measures and the carriers that we will discuss in the following sections. This is the secret to a perfect road trip: having your cat by your side!

Have a Certain Routine for Your Cat

There is always a certain routine that your cat expects you to follow when you relocate. That is important to follow with no other delay, especially when you have long road or boat trips with your cat. For example, you need to make sure you feed the cat the usual hours and release it to play around for some time. If you fail to do so, your cat will lose its orientation and may be depressed during trips.

Find the Right Carrier to Transport Your Cat

Getting the right carrier quality is crucial to having your cat happy while traveling. There are a lot of carriers on the market, and you need to find the one that your cat will feel comfortable being inside for many hours. This carrier should have great ventilation and allow the air to pass through easily to ensure the cat always gets fresh air. Also, it should give some shade to the cat to reduce the temperature rise within the carrier and make traveling conditions a lot more sustainable.

Conclusion

Traveling with your cat could be the best possible experience for both. However, you need to be aware of all the tips to make this trip work not only for your benefit but also for your cat’s well-being. It’s not hard to travel with your cat, provided you take all the necessary measures for its comfortable living!
