  • October 2, 2023
  • Jules

Ithaca is a picturesque city in Upstate New York known for its sprawling green spaces, refreshing waterfalls, and a robust lineup of outdoor activities.

From hiking in the wooded trails to sampling local wines, Ithaca has something for everyone.

After gathering all the necessary provisions, go to a dentist in Ithaca to whiten those teeth because, whether you’re a first-time visitor, a seasoned Ithaca traveler, or a local, you’ll want to flaunt that scenic view with some selfies:

1) Six Mile Creek

Six Mile Creek is a hidden gem nestled in the southern part of Ithaca. This beautiful creek boasts several swimming holes, a rope swing, and cliff-jumping spots.

If you’re feeling adventurous, dip in the creek’s cool waters or climb one of the cliffs to get a panoramic view of the surrounding area. The Six Mile Creek Trail also provides an excellent opportunity for hikers to explore the area’s lush forests and beautiful waterfalls.

2) Ithaca Farmers Market

The Ithaca Farmers Market is a must-visit for those who love fresh produce. The market features over 130 vendors selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to artisanal cheese and locally made crafts.

The market is open from April to December and offers a unique shopping experience in a breathtaking setting.

3) Cayuga Lake

Cayuga Lake is the longest Finger Lakes, offering a range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. You can dip in the refreshing waters, kayak or paddleboard, go on a scenic boat tour, or simply relax on the beach.

The iconic Taughannock Falls State Park is located at the end of the lake and offers hiking trails, fishing, and camping opportunities.

4) Cornell University Campus

The Cornell University campus is a great place to start your outdoor adventure in Ithaca. Its sprawling 745-acre campus offers plenty of opportunities to explore nature.

Some of the best nature-based activities near campus include hiking the trails of Beebe Lake, strolling through the Cornell Botanic Gardens, and learning about birds in the Sapsucker Woods. You can also rent a bike and ride around the campus while taking in the views of the surrounding hills.

5) Any of the Waterfalls of Ithaca

Undoubtedly, Ithaca’s most unique outdoor activity is experiencing the more than 150 waterfalls surrounding the city.

Among the most visited falls are Triphammer Falls, Taughannock Falls, and Buttermilk Falls State Park. Each waterfall has its unique charm and specific trail, although all are perfect for hiking and taking stunning photos—so get those teeth implants done beforehand!

Ithaca is a haven for outdoor activities with breathtaking scenery, waterfalls, creeks, and lakes. Ithaca has something for everyone, from hiking and swimming to camping and relaxation. You might benefit from taking a break from hectic city life by heading to this Finger Lakes region city for some much-needed fresh air and natural beauty.
