When to visit Paris: a season-by-season guide

Are you considering jetting off on a luxury trip to Paris? Do you want to charter a private jet and fly in style to try freshly baked baguettes, sail along the Seine, and stand at the top of the Eiffel Tower?

Then you may be wondering what time of year to make the trip to Europe. Every season has something to offer in the city of love, from the pleasant sunshine in summer to the crisp leaves of fall – so you’re sure to enjoy your trip no matter when you visit.

If you’re unsure when to choose, take a look at our season-by-season guide below to figure out when would be best for you.

Spring

During the spring season, you can expect temperatures varying from the mid 50’s to the mid to late 60s in °F. The weather can be mixed, from clear skies and sunshine to rain showers – so make sure you pack for all eventualities!

One of the beauties of heading to Paris in spring is seeing all the flowers in bloom. Take a stroll through Parc Monceau to spot cherry blossoms, visit the striking Grande Mosquée de Paris to see wisteria, and head to the Champ de Mars to see the stunning magnolias.

Summer

If you visit Paris in summer, you can expect warm, sun-filled days with temperatures typically sitting in the 70s F. Those that like the heat will enjoy visiting at this time of year, as it is warm enough to lounge around at the hotel or explore the city.

The balmy weather is perfect for strolling along the canals, enjoying a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower, or wandering through the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. You could even explore the city from the water on a Seine River cruise!

Fall

During the fall, Paris can vary a lot in temperature, from the mid-60s F in September to mid-40s F in November on average. It’s a beautiful time to explore as you can see the rich amber hues throughout the city and enjoy feeling your feet crunch in the fallen leaves.

If fashion is your thing, you’ll be happy to hear that one of the semi-annual Paris Fashion Weeks typically takes place around late September to early October. If not, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy – you could attend the annual grape harvest festival around Montmartre, explore the garden of the Palais-Royal, or hike through the Fontainebleau Forest.

Winter

In the winter months, Paris tends to be pretty chilly, with temperatures of 41°F on average and around two hours of sunshine in December. Don’t let the winter weather deter you though – this is a fantastic time to visit Paris with its festive displays, bright lights and cosy restaurants.

While feeling the festive cheer at one of the fantastic Christmas markets is a must, there are plenty more amazing indoor activities to enjoy when the weather is cold or rainy. You could head to the iconic Louvre Museum to spot the Mona Lisa or visit the beautiful Sainte-Chapelle. This royal chapel was built during the 1200s and features an array of brightly coloured stained-glass windows.

There truly is something unique to enjoy in every season in Paris – with plenty of amazing attractions to discover no matter what the weather. When will you choose to visit?
