A Monaco summer: Five unmissable experiences in this Mediterranean jewel

So, you’ve decided to visit Monaco? With its luxurious reputation and grand location of the French Riviera, it’s no wonder why you’d want to travel to the second smallest country in the world. But with so many experiences on offer, it can be hard to know which to choose.

We’ve written this article with you in mind. Keep reading for five unmissable experiences in Monaco!

  1. Walk through oldtown

Experience the rich heritage of 18th century Monaco, before it became one of the most renowned locations in the Mediterranean. Monaco’s old town operates at a slower pace. Give yourself at least half a day to leisurely stroll through its winding cobbled streets and soak in the sights and stories around you.

There are many historical buildings in this area, including the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, where you can watch the changing of the guard. Then there’s the Saint Nicholas Cathedral of Monaco, with its magnificent architecture, and fascinating tombs of the royal family.

  1. Charter a yacht

There’s no better way to experience complete freedom than to charter a private yacht on Monaco’s stunning Mediterranean waters. You’ll also get a richer, more intimate experience of the country itself – since the captain and crew will be able to show you all the local hidden gems you might have missed otherwise.

  1. Attend the grand prix

Controversies, rivalries, and high-octane races with competitors locked wheel-to-wheel. If all this doesn’t make it obvious why Formula 1 racing is one of the most exciting sporting events to watch, then either the vibrant personalities behind the wheel and cutting-edge engineering surely will.

And the Monaco Grand Prix is where Formula 1 racing is at its best. In the first place, Monaco has a rich history with Formula 1, stretching back to 1929. Then there’s the race circuit, one of the most challenging and iconic throughout the world. Watching the grand prix here is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

  1. Explore the Oceanographic Museum

If you think that this attraction is just like any other museum, you’re in for a big surprise. Yes, upstairs you will be able to peruse through intriguing exhibitions on the history of oceanography. But downstairs you’ll see jaw-dropping floor-to-ceiling tanks full of rare marine life. Not only can you see some of the most unusual and mesmerising creatures from the depths of the Mediterranean ocean, but you’ll even be able to gaze at curious specimens from across the world.

  1. Take to the skies

If you think that Monaco is breath taking from ground level, just wait until you’ve viewed it from high above. From the basket of a hot air balloon, you’ll be able to see the whole of this incredible principality in one glance, as well as much of the fabled French Riviera. Not only this, but you’ll also enjoy an adrenaline-filled experience like no other, from the tense anticipation of take off to the euphoric feeling weightlessness as you float far above the ground.

There are so many ways to experience this incredible Mediterranean principality. After reading this article, you should know which ones you absolutely shouldn’t miss. What Monaco experience are you most excited for? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section!
