There is nothing more exciting than traveling to new magical holiday destinations around the world, as this way you will experience experiences that you will remember for a lifetime! There are many places worldwide that you can choose for visiting, according to your needs and your budget.

Frequent travelers are often exposed to different environments and situations that can affect their eye health. From long flights to new climates and air pollution, there are many factors that can cause discomfort or even vision problems. Because of this, it’s very important to take care of your eyes and maintain good overall health while traveling. This includes eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep.

In case you are a frequent traveler and you want to learn more about how to take the best care of yourself and your vision while traveling, you are in the right place.

Read below and letโ€™s discuss the 4 best eye care tips for you!

  1. Use eye drops

First of all, donโ€™t forget to pack your eye drops. Airplane cabins and hotel rooms often have low humidity levels that can cause dry eyes. Therefore you should pack eye drops to lubricate and hydrate their eyes. When using eye drops, make sure to wash your hands first and avoid touching the tip of the bottle to your eye. Also, try to use preservative-free drops to avoid irritation.

  1. Visit an optician

Of course, it is important to find an ophthalmologist before your trip to maintain good eye health. Eye exams can detect early signs of eye diseases and determine the correct prescription for glasses or contact lenses. During the appointment, let the doctor know about any symptoms or discomfort you may be experiencing, such as dry eyes or blurred vision. If you’re traveling abroad, it’s a good idea to research local eye clinics before you go and keep the contact information with you in case of an emergency.

  1. Wear sunglasses

Moreover, while traveling to sunny places, exposure to UV rays can cause serious eye damage, including cataracts. So, if you are a frequent traveler you always have to wear sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays. Additionally, wraparound-style sunglasses can protect the eyes from dust, wind, and other airborne particles. In case you donโ€™t have a cool pair of sunglasses, itโ€™s the best time for shopping.

  1. Take Breaks from Digital Devices

Last but not least, if you spend long periods of time staring at digital screens on your phones, tablets, or laptops. This can cause digital eye strain, a condition that can lead to headaches, blurred vision, and dry eyes. When traveling, the best excuse is to turn off your devices and let yourself experience the new destination exclusively. Spending time on your smartphone is something that you must avoid if you want to have an authentic journey.
