Day 01. San Jose: Arrival to Costa Rica. Meet and greet at the Airport and transfer to the Palma Real Hotel: just 20 minutes from Juan Santamaria International Airport. Overnight at Barceló Palma Real Hotel.
Day 02. San José – Tortuguero: Early departure sharing a bus transportation for the group toward the Caribbean Coast crossing the Continental Divide and passing through the impressive Braulio Carrillo National Park, founded in 1978 in order to save some of the area that was being opened up by the Guápiles Highway. It was named after the third president of Costa Rica who ruled in the mid 1800’s. This park is covered with 90% primary forest from tropical lowlands to Tropical Cloud forest; it has been estimated that more than 6,000 different plant species inhabit it, including tree ferns, palm trees, heliconias and bromeliads. Stop for breakfast in the village of Guápiles and continue to the river port, en route stop in a banana plantation. Then take a comfortable boat transfer through the magnificent jungle river to the Lodge. In the afternoon visit Tortuguero Village and its Conservation Museum and learn how they encourage the protection of the Green Turtle. Lunch and dinner at the lodge. Overnight at Pachira Lodge
Day 03. Tortuguero: Breakfast at the lodge. This day offers a wonderful experience. First a guided nature walk in the jungle and a boat tour through the canals of Tortuguero National Park: Originally intended to protect a major nesting beach of the Atlantic Green Sea Turtle, Tortuguero National Park now protects 51,870 acres, one of the last large areas of tropical rain forest in Central America. Eleven habitats are found in the park. Three species of monkeys (Spider, Howler, and White-faced), Three-toed Sloths, and river otters are frequently seen along the natural inland waterways and canals. Caimans, iguanas, river turtles, Basilisk Lizards, and Poison Dart Frogs (Dendrobates) inhabit the area, along with more than 320 species of birds including all six species of kingfishers found in the new world, 3 species of toucans, 8 species of parrots, and other neotropical species such as the Slaty-tailed Trogon, White-collared Manakin, Purple-throated Fruitcrow and White-fronted Nunbird. Day 04. Tortuguero – Arenal :Breakfast at the Lodge. Meet at the dock for boat transfer to Caño Blanco where bus for the group awaits. Buffet lunch included in the village of Guápiles. Continue by shuttle transportation to the northern lowlands to find the perfectly coned shaped Arenal Volcano, among the most active volcanoes in the world since 1968 which you will be able to contemplate from the hotel facilities, even from your own room. You can here rocks tumbling down and hear its rumbling. Overnight at Volcano Lodge.
Day 05. Arenal: Breakfast at hotel. Morning transfer to the Arenal hanging bridged. There are 16 bridges in total. Ten of them are regular or static bridges and vary in length from eight to 22 meters. The Arenal Hanging Bridges are easily accessible. During the visit and along most part of the trails and bridges you will be able to enjoy scenic views over these beautiful natural surroundings. Day 06. Arenal- Rincón de la Vieja: Breakfast at hotel. Departure to the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area where you will be the exclusive guest’s hacienda with private baths, a big terrace and gardens with splendid views of the forest. Meals are prepared by the owner and served at a large communal table in a rustic ambiance. Late afternoon enjoy the hot springs in Negro River where you’ll find embedded in the tropical dry forest, surrounded by the river, where you find seven pools with thermal waters from the volcanic hot springs, crystal clear and all natural, for the source is nearby, refilling the pools all the time with water. Overnight at Hacienda Guachipelín: a truly eco-tourism lodge for adventure travel and nature lovers. The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens with native trees, exotic flowers and many types of birds, and it has views to both the Rincón de la Vieja volcano and the Pacific Ocean. Near the reception area, you will find our corrals, where real cowboys and ranch hands begins to work early in the mornings. In their restaurant they combine typical Costa Rican dishes with international cuisine and use wood ovens to give the food a distinctive flavor.
Day 07. Rincón de la Vieja: Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning tour to The Rincón de la Vieja National Park around the active Volcano of Rincón de La Vieja, one of the most versatile of the country. Not only the different vegetation zones from the humid rain forest to the tropical dry broadleaf forest, but especially the volcanic phenomenon such as the fumaroles and the bubbling sloughs make the visit to this region an unforgettable experience. The park is habit for big cats, tapirs, brocket deers, ant bears, armadillos and different types of monkeys. 257 bird species were observed. There are also many insects represented, especially butterflies and moths. In the morning you will set out for a 2 hour ramble through the sector Las Pailas. Overnight at Hacienda Guachipelín Lodge.
Day 08. Rincón de la Vieja – Granada: Breakfast at the Hotel. Early private transfer to Peñas Blancas, the border Costa Rica – Nicaragua. Driving along the beautiful Lake of Nicaragua with its wonderful sceneries, via the Panamerican road, passing by near small cities and villages. Arrive to the City of Granada, and overnight at the Hotel Plaza Colón.
Day 09. Granada: Breakfast at the Hotel. Visit the City of Granada. Granada is one of the most important cities of Nicaragua but, it is the first city of historical interest. You will discover the Neoclassic Cathedral La Merced, La Casa de los Tres Mundos and the Convent of the San Francisco Church. Boat trip around Las Isletas; an archipelago of volcanic islands on the Lake of Nicaragua. The isletas, 365 small islands, which are a real natural paradise. Overnight at Hotel Plaza Colón or similar
Day 10. Granada - León: After Breakfast, transfer to the city of León. Visit the city of Leon, city founded at the same time as Granada, which always was its rival, very politically compromised. It is located behind walls with some frescos which talk about its historical and political past. Visit the principal monuments and churches, as well as the private Art Museum Foundation. Overnight at the Hotel El Convento or similar
Day 11. León - Guanacaste: Breakfast at Hotel. Morning private transfer to the border Nicaragua-Costa Rica, and continue to the North Pacific Coast. Area full of beautiful beaches, where you will stay at Bosque del Mar Hotel, to enjoy nature and relax.
Day 12. Hermosa Beach. Day at Leisure at the Hotel. Overnight at Bosque del Mar Hotel.
