Day 01. Route: Arrival. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide and drive about 15 minutes to your hotel. Overnight at Kaleb Hotel (4*) (BB)
Day 02. Addis –Arba Minch. 9 hours Today you will drive 500 km south to Arba Minch; meaning ‘Forty Springs’ in Amharic. It is named after the numerous water springs found in one of the indigenous forests of East Africa. On your way to Arba Minch, stop off at the Rift Valley Lakes of Ziway, and Langano which are known for their collection of birds, & visiting the Dorze people who are famous for their huge huts, and colorful dresses. Dinner and overnight will be at Bekele Mola Hotel which is situated at a nice point to spot two of the Rift Valley lakes and part of the land between the lakes which is known locally as the Bridge of Heaven or Paradise. Day 03. Arba Minch After an early breakfast, head to the Nech Sar National Park and drive a 60 km circular route to spot the endemic mammal of Ethiopia – the Swaynes Hartebeest, Burchil Zebra, and various colorful lowland birds. After lunch at your hotel, have a remarkable boat ride on the southernmost Rift Valley Lake of Ethiopia – Lake Chamo. Boat trip on Lake Chamo is among the best anywhere in Ethiopia. Day 04. Route: Arba Minch – Jinka 5 hours This day we drive 275 km south of Arba Minch on a rough road to Jinka crossing the Weito Valley and visiting the Konso people who are noted for their rock terracing and colorful hand woven cotton clothes. Further, along the route visit the Woito people live in the area around Woito River and Tsemay village. Overnight: Jinka Resort Hotel (Tourist Standard) (B, L, D)
Day 05. Route: Jinka – Mago National Park – Jinka 72 km 6 hours Today you will experience the most famous and extraordinary people of Mursi. The Mursi people are typically known for the clay lip plates the women insert in their lower lips. This practice is regarded as a sign of beauty among the Mursi – the bigger the plate, the more beautiful the wearer. You will have a light picnic lunch on the way. Day 06. Route: - Jinka – Turmi 120km 6hours Drive from Jinka to Turmi, the settlement of the Hamer people, via Key Afer. If this day is Thursday you will visit one of the most colorful multicultural weekly markets whereby the Tsemai, the Ari, and the Benna people meet. Around Turmi, visit the Hamer people whose women are famous for their typical skirts and hairdressings. The Hamer people are also noted for their ‘Bull Jumping’ Ceremony where boys jump lines of bulls to show the community that they are old and matured enough to carry the responsibility of marriage. Hamers have remarkable hairstyles made from ochre, water, and binding resin. They rub the mixture into their hair then twist the strands repeatedly to create coppery-coloured locks. Day 07. Route: Turmi - Murulle – Turmi 140km 6hours Make an excursion trip to Murulle to visit the Karo people who are the fewest ethnic groups in the Omo Valley numbering only about 1,500 individuals. The Karos are famous for tattooing, scaring and body painting. They reside by the side of the Omo River. After your visit drive back to Turmi. The entire trip is about 116 km, and takes about 7 hours with the visit. Then, your guide will arrange you a typical Ethiopian coffee ceremony at Turmi. Overnight: Buska Lodge
Day 08. Route: Turmi – Omorate – Turmi 140km 3hours Today you will have an excursion trip to Omo Rate which is found east of the Omo River; the sole feeder of Lake Turkana or Lake Rudolf. We cross Omo River by a small boat and walk 20 minutes to the Gelab (Dassanech) tribal village. Dasenech people are also known for their body painting and body scarification. At Turmi attend a weekly market of the Hamer people if the day is Monday. Overnight: Buska Lodge
Day 09. Route: Turmi – Yabello 6hours This day we drive 290KM high and out of the Omo Valley. to Yabello visiting the Erbore people who are famous for their extensive use of jewels ranging from pen caps to watch bands, and the nomadic Borena people. After lunch stop at Konso, continue to the region of Oromo Borena and visit their village. The drive this day will let you to experience the life of the Oromo Borena People who is well known in cattle rearing. You also visit the Oromo Borena People villages and their 'singing well' from which they cater water to their own thousands of cattle by singing. Day 10. Route: Yabello - Wendo Genet 6hours Drive 383 km north to Wendo Genet on the highway from Ethiopia to Kenya. En route visit the Sidama people who are noted for their cultivation of enset or False Banana, and Lake Awassa, & finally enjoy swimming at the natural hot spring water in Wendo Genet which is believed to have a medicinal value. Overnight: Wabe Shebele Hotel (3* Hotel) (B, L, D)
Day 11. Wendo Genet-Dinsho Drive Wendo Genet to Dinsho; headquarter of Bale Mountains National Park. Around Dinsho look out for one of the endemic mammals of Ethiopia the Mountain Nyala. Overnight: First class camping gear with private cook and necessary camping gears (B, L, D)
Day 12. Dinsho-Goba To day you will drive to Goba and you will see and appreciate day to day life of Oromo people. Overnight: First class camping gear with private cook and necessary camping gears (B, L, D)
Day 13. Goba-Sodere – Addis Activity: Drive back to Addis and on the way you will visit Sodere which is nice weekend resort then you will drive to Addis and your departure.
