Day 01. Valahia - Arrival in Bucharest. Departure to Curtea de Arges, a lovely little town, former capital of. Walachia, placed at the foot of the Transylvanian Alps. Accommodation and after a little rest, visit the Old Princely Court ( XIV sec. frescoes ) and the monastery (one of the most precious treasuries of Romanian medieval art and architecture, where the royal family is buried).
Day 02. Transylvania - After breakfast, departure to Sibiu, in south Transylvania. On the way, visit Cozia Monastery (with Byzantine stilled frescoes XIV SEC). Driving through beautiful Olt Valley. Arrival in Sibiu where your guide will take you in a sightseeing tour of Sibiu – probably the most charming among of Transylvanian cities, designated as European Cultural Capital in 2007 for its great architectural heritage and cultural activity. Head to Sibiel and home host accommodation ( very clean and nice warm atmosphere ). Enjoy a quiet evening in a central Transylvanian village …
Day 03. Transylvania - After breakfast, departure to Cluj. On the way stop and Visit Alba Iulia, the only Vauban citadel in Transylvania and the spiritual capital of the Romanians. Arrival in Cluj and sightseeing tour - one of the most important cultural centers of Romania, known for its rich historical past … Departure to Baia Mare, the gate to Maramures. Accommodation on the way in a 3* motel (this is a family run property - warm atmosphere and great cuisine).
Day 04. Maramures - After breakfast, wandering through Maramures – the most interesting site of Romania. Visit famous wooden churches, the unique Happy Cemetery in Sapanta. Opportunity to see people wear traditional costumes, peasants homes inside, peasant art works: carved wooden gates, carpets workshops, water mills ... Arrival in the evening in Borsa, a nice ski resort in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. Accommodation in 3* Hotel, from where you can take a walk into the marvelous surroundings.
Day 05. Bucovina - After breakfast, you may enjoy a little hike in the area … Departure then to Moldavia through Prislop Pass, 1416 m high in the mountains. Enjoy the countryside and the villages in Bucovina – feeling completely different than your previous day… Plunge into the famous monastic archipelago, with painted monuments included by the UNESCO among the masterpieces of the world art. Visit Manastirea Humorului, and Voronet (called “The Sistine Chapel of the Orient ). Accommodation in a private 3* villa.
Day 06. Bucovina - Continue to explore this unique area and visit other famous Moldavian monasteries : Moldovita, Sucevita, Arbore …Stop to shop for some souvenirs in Marginea, or visit the most important black pottery center in the country. Arrival back in Manastirea Humorului in late afternoon and enjoy a quiet evening in the village. Accommodation in a private 3* villa.
Day 07. Moldova / Transylvania - After breakfast, departure back to Transylvania through breathtaking Bicaz Pass. Very scenic driving! Lunch break at
Day 08. Transylvania - After breakfast, proceed to Brasov, the favorite tourist destination in Romania. On the way to Brasov visit the famous Bran Castle (best known as Dracula’s Castle, 20 km away from Brasov). Visit Rasnov Fortress, founded in the XIII th century by The Teutonic Knights. Arrival in Brasov and accommodation in 3* Hotel in the center of the city. Shopping time.
Day 09. Transylvania – Valahia - After breakfast, Brasov city sightseeing tour. Departure by noon to Sinaia, one of the finest mountain resorts in Romania, with spectacular surroundings and rich history. Visit Peles Castle, former summer residence of the Romanian royal family (built in 1875 and the most beautiful in the S-E of Europe). Driving through beautiful Prahova Valley and Bucegi Mountains. Arrival in Bucharest. Accommodation at 3* Hotel in the center of the city.
Day 10. Bucharest - Walking tour in Bucharest historical district after breakfast. Visiting the Patriarchal church, the Village Museum or the Art Museum ... On your way, you may pas the enormous Palace of Parliament, a memorial to Ceausecu’s ideals and visions of Communism. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon
