For the guest it’s an impressive picture book, when they arrive in Salzkammergut. Since December 1997 the “Hallstatt - Dachstein / Salzkammergut” region has joined the list of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. UNESCO determined a big part of this region as a World Heritage worth to be preserved because of its unique and beautiful landscape and all the cultural activities. This beautiful region has 76 lakes – all with crystal clear water; a magical mountain world with rich green Alps and impressive rock faces, up to 3000 metres high, and of course not forgetting the Dachstein Glacier. This trip has it all - lakes, well marked trails, and charming villages.

Day 02. St. Wolfgang - St. Gilgen. Daily walking route about 10 km - 2-3 hours From Abersee you go by a small boat to the other side of the lake, to St. Wolfgang. When you get out of the boat turn left and walk towards Ried. At the end of the road, the hiking trail of the mountain “Falkenstein” to the Gasthof “Fürberg” starts. From there along the lake shore to the Mozart-village St. Gilgen. The boat takes you from St. Gilgen back to Gschwendt (Abersee). (If you prefer walking – there is a nice path from St. Gilgen to Abersee – leading at the lake-shore). Overnight in Abersee.
Day 03. Schwarzensee and Strobl. Daily walking route about 16 km - 4-5 hours By boat you go to St. Wolfgang. From St. Wolfgang you start your hiking tour to the mountain lake Schwarzensee. At the Gasthof of “Madame Lore” you can enjoy fresh trout from the lake. Take the hiking path down to Strobl / Schwarzenbach and walk around the mountain “Bürglstein” until you reach the lake promenade in Strobl. In Strobl take the bus to the Emperors town Bad Ischl. Day 05. Brine-pipeline walk to Bad Goisern. Daily walking route about 10 km - about 3 hours. From the Esplanade you walk along the river Traun to Katrin cable car station. The “Salzkammergut Brinetrail” is well marked. The first small village is Lauffen - the church of Lauffen is very famous – people were praying here to God, because of the wild water of river Traun. Next point is Weissenbach; walk further along the river Traun to Bad Goisern. Bad Boisern is also part of the world cultural heritage Dachstein. Overnight in Bad Goisern.
Day 06. Brine-pipeline walk to Hallstatt. Daily walking route about 10 km - about 3 hours Follow the brine trail from Bad Goisern to Hallstatt till you reach the “Saltmine”.
