Whatever the weather you chose your timeshare for, the chances are you show up for your annual stay and spend a reasonable amount of time just trying to adjust, which is a shame. It’s your home away from home and your time there is limited. So, whether you’ve lived the vacation home life for decades or are just gearing up to buy timeshare property, our team has put together a handful of helpful tips to help you arrive at your vacation home relaxation ready. For more information about timeshare visit here.

Unpack ASAP

This might seem like a no brainer; but the first, best tip we have to offer is that you unpack everything as soon as you can once you arrive. Unloading the suitcases is a great start, but also unpack all those gadgets and books that the kids have stuffed into their bags. Having to dig around in the bags every time someone needs to find their favorite race car or charging cable gets old, fast. And little feels less like home than constantly rifling through a mix of discarded sweet wrappers and pointy toys to find Billy’s inhaler.

Scent the Tone

One of the simplest things you can do to help your friends and family settle into the timeshare is bring along a couple of candles with the same scents you use at home. The lion’s share of our memories are tied directly to smells we find familiar. Walking into a stark room that smells vaguely of whatever the people next door had for their last meal and harsh cleansers will never be as welcoming as walking into a room that’s lightly scented with a familiar candle or essential oil blends infusion after a long day on the slopes or beach. a familiar scent will always welcome you and your people “home”.

Savor the Flavors

Another simple thing that appeals to our most basic need is bringing along a small selection of seasonings that the family loves for cooking. Because you’re going to stay in your “own” place for a week or more, it stands to reason you’ll be cooking a bit while you do, so be prepared to lay on your go-to family feasts. Taco Tuesday is nothing without the right mix of seasonings for the meat, and you can’t be sure what is available in those smaller regional markets, so packing a few meals’ worth of the flavors that are popular at home is a great start.

Wise Snacks

While we’re talking about eating, it’s well worth grabbing favorite nibbles for the kids (and yourself!). Having simple, tasty treats available on demand from the moment you set off is much easier on everyone than arriving at your destination with a ravenous horde. So bring snacks, when you get there put them out in an obvious, communal area for everyone’s benefit. Healthy, ready-made snacks will go a long way toward keeping the family friendly. This will also buy you time to run out to the store and stock up on the essentials your timeshare needs for your stay.

Shop for Sanity

You wouldn’t hang around your own house knowing there was nothing for dinner unless you had reliable delivery options on speed dial, so think ahead and put together a vacation meal plan. When you arrive and have unpacked, excuse yourself and hit the grocery store to load up on the things you’ll need to make dinners, breakfasts, lunches and snacks for the duration of your stay. Be sure to include a few meals out to sample the local fare and indulge, but you’ll feel more “at home” if you make use of the facilities in your timeshare.

Sleep

Obviously during your stay you’ll be sleeping, so pack the things you need to feel at ease when you hit the sack away from home. For some, it’s as simple as bringing their own pillow case; for others a room fragrance might be necessary. What’s more, do the same for others in your group to ensure everyone is well rested and ready to enjoy an action-packed day.

When it comes to credit, are you wondering if, can a timeshare ruin your credit? Well, yes! If you buy a timeshare and you fail to pay your mortgage and other fees, you will likely lose the property to foreclosure which can make your credit score dropdown. If your credit score suffers, it will affect your ability to get credit later on.

Enjoying your timeshare vacation from the moment you unlock the door is simply a matter of preparation. Good luck on your journey.
