If you could chose the soundtrack to your life, what songs would you put on it? When we go on vacation a lot of us have our favourites that we take almost everywhere we go. Music spices up a vacation, which is why you shouldn’t get on a plane without first having your Spotify playlist at the ready. While we all have different taste when it comes to music there are a few iconic songs and bands that go great with a sunny vacation. So, before you pack your bags or get your EHIC card renewal, get your vacation playlist sorted. If you’re not sure what to put on your vacation playlist, here are a few suggestions to get you inspired.

Bob Marley

Honestly, the best time to listen to Bob Marley is on vacation. His songs make for great chillax music during road trips or they can play you through a day on the beach. Jamming is easy listening at its finest.

Beach Boys

It’s hard to find anyone that doesn’t immediately crack a smile when they hear the first few bars of Wouldn’t It Be Nice.  The Beach Boys were one of the most iconic summer bands and we still love their songs to this day.

Daft Punk

There’s one album by Daft Punk in particular that gets everyone dancing and that’s Daft Club. This album features all of our favourites: One More Time; Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger; and, one that you might not have heard but always comes highly recommended, Aerodynamic. This album is the best of electric funk and is great for sunny days and late nights.

Calvin Harris

A party isn’t a party without Calvin Harris playing. You could pick almost any track by Calvin Harris and it would immediately get everybody dancing. His collaboration with Rhianna in We Found Love is an especially great addition to your vacation playlist.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry is a master at making feel-good music. Her old and new music easily adds life to any playlist and California Gurls has been on top of everybody’s summer song lists as soon as it came out. And let’s not forget Firework, which has got to be the most fun song to sing along to.

Santana

You can’t go wrong with some smooth Latin fusion when you’re vacationing in the Mediterranean or on the beaches of Mexico. Carlos’s bluesy guitar riffs could soothe any soul and those African inspired rhythms will get everyone up and dancing. This music is great to play in the warm evenings, when you’re sipping drinks outside by the pool.

Eva Cassidy

Save this artist for the last night of your vacation or on a rainy day. Her songs are heartbreakingly beautiful and will certainly capture what you’re feeling when it’s finally time to leave and head home. When Songbird plays, there won’t be a dry eye in the room.

The Eagles – Hotel California

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody

Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl

Empire Of The Sun – Walking On A Dream

Stan Getz and João Gilberto – The Girl From Ipanema
