Dubai Food Carnival
When: Late Feb
For all you food fanatics and cooking aficionados, the Dubai Food Carnival is an absolute must this year. With a mountain of different types of food from all over the world, visitors can really get their teeth stuck into a BBQ party, a cook off and chef master classes to get some tasty tips to take home. Along with a variety of music acts, street entertainers and sporting challenging, this Carnival truly caters for all tastes, even if you’re a fussy eater or the ‘can’t cook, won’t cook’ type!
Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2014
For the 22nd year running, all the top tennis players will be heading to Dubai to compete against each other for the ultimate tennis prize. With the likes of Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in attendance, this event draws the Dubai crowds in every year.
Middle East Film and Comic Con
When: Beginning April
As one of Dubai’s most anticipated events, this event attracts thousands of eager film and comic enthusiasts to explore various exhibitors showing models and figures ranging from Science Fiction, Fantasy, Superheroes, Comics, Animation and Anime. The last two years have been a roaring success for the events, and it’s predicted that this year will be no different. It gives fans a chance to get close and personal with their favourite TV or film characters and also to special celebrity guests. This year, special guests include Seth Green, from Family Guy and creator of Robot Chicken, and Sylvester McCoy from Dr Who and The Hobbit.
Dubai Sports World 2014
This all-action indoor sporting extravaganza lasts over two months, with every sport you can think of being involved. From indoor Football and Tennis tournaments to Zumba, Squash, Touch Rugby and Cricket, there is an abundance of sports which will keep you occupied over the summer months in Dubai. There will also be a skate park and bike track for all you extreme sports fans. And you don’t have to worry about the high temperatures either – the indoor area is fully air-conditioned.
An iconic and significant event in the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is a month-long event where Muslims reflect, meditate and fast during daylight hours. It is said that fasting will teach a Muslim modesty and sympathy for the less fortunate people in life. However, during the evenings, after 7pm, the Dubai Government puts on events where people from all walks of life can celebrate with Emirati traditions, hospitality and spirit of Ramadan.
Dubai Music Week
Back again this year for another dose of pure music entertainment is the Dubai Music Week, featuring artists and musicians from all over the world performing hits and talking about how they have made it big in the industry. It gives fans a great chance to dig deeper into the minds of their music idols. Last year saw musical superstars such as Will.I.Am, Selena Gomez and the legendary Quincy Jones – so it’ll be really interesting to see if they can top that this year!
Dubai International Film Festival 2014
After yet another year of blockbuster Hollywood, Bollywood and other unique movies, Dubai will celebrate the biggest and best films seen in cinemas in December 2014. Attracting film buffs from all over the world, fans can get up close and personal with film megastars along the red carpet. Screenings of films will be shown in cinemas, theatres and outdoor screens all across Dubai.
