Best Destinations to Celebrate Moustaches and Movember

The whole world unites this month to celebrate Movember (formerly called November!) as the planet comes together in a giant moustache growing competition in aid of charity. The fun event raises both funds and awareness for various cancer charities. There’s no excuse not to get involved!

Make like a top celeb and grow your own face-hair to keep snug this winter. Old school moustachioed heroes include Tom Selleck, David Niven and Burt Reynolds. Modern day tache-tastic gentlemen include Zac Efron, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt. The time-lapsed video above shows how much a moustache grows in just 30 days – get growing!

And if you are growing your own tache, you’ll fit right in at these destinations;

India
Home of the Guinness Book of Records holder for the world’s longest moustache is India. Ram Singh Chauhan sports the hairy adornment measuring in at a mighty 4.29m (14 feet) long in 2010! Elsewhere in India you’ll spot a large percentage of the 1.2 million residents with a moustache. In fact it’s estimated that up to 80% of men in south India sport taches. Indians see it as symbol of their virility.

Mexico
Think Mexican gentleman and you’ll probably have a stereotypical vision of a moustachioed man, and you’d be right as it’s suggested that Mexicans wanted to set themselves apart from the Europeans that arrived years ago.

Germany
Home to the weirdest and wildest face hair has to go to German men, who often sport a variety of interesting handlebar moustaches; the more curled at the ends the better!  From Bismarck to Einstein, Germen men love their moustaches!

Turkey
Back in the 1980s it was de rigueur for Turkish gentlemen to sport a large bushy moustache. Times may have changed a little recently with the younger crowd sporting a more pared-down look but a classic bushy tache will always look old school and sophisticated.

USA
Moustache fashion comes and goes in the USA, depending on what the celebrity actors and singers are wearing right now. Which makes for a great excuse to look up photos of hot men sporting face hair; a la George Clooney, Jared Leto and Johnny Depp (love my ‘research’!)

UK
The UK is still haunted by the moustaches sported in those top shelf movies from the 1960s! You don’t tend to see many men in the UK these days sporting a tash. Which is a shame as a) it can get pretty cold here in the winter and b) the British celebs seem to carry off a tash with aplomb, think Jude Law, Daniel Craig aka James Bond and Keith Lemon!
