PureTravel Says
“With the turquoise sea surrounding, Barbados invites you to come and enjoy the endless sandy beaches of this island paradise. Have a great time touring cultural sites and snorkeling at the Folkestone Underwater Park. Explore Maycock's Fort, Harrison's Caves and the capital Bridgetown. The coral isle of Barbados has outdoor fun, including swimming, beachcombing and windsurfing in the incredibly clear waters. You will also find fine dining, great nightlife to soak up the Barbadian atmosphere.”

Barbados Holiday Highlights

History & Culture – Formerly under British Colonial rule, Barbados has a rich culture and plenty of history to explore in the capital Bridgetown and the rest of the island. Visit the Barbados Museum, formerly a British Military Prison, which has artifacts from the early inhabitants and furnishings from an 18th century plantation. Visit George Washington House where the first president of the US stayed when he visited Barbados in 1751. At Gun Hill Signal Station you can see an incredible carved lion statue that was made from a single piece of rock and visit Grenade Hill. A series of these signal stations were built in order to signal the approach of vessels and also to warn of any rebellions of slaves on the island.

Nightlife – Relax and have some great food and entertainment in Barbados at the fine restaurants serving various cuisines. You’ll find some great nightclubs in St. Lawrence Gap and on Bay Street and the live music will get you hooked on the Caribbean atmosphere. Visit The Whistling Frog for their street party night and check out Harbor Lights located right on the beach. The calypso and reggae music will enliven the evening’s events. Barbados is brimming with great food, nightlife and happening sounds!

Cycling – The trails of Barbados offer some wonderful cycling as you bike along the Atlantic coast with the waves crashing on the rocks and the fresh sea breezes blowing in your hair. Cycle along roads surrounded with lush vegetation and bike up to Cherry Tree Hill. Take a break to watch the surfers ride the waves and tour St. John’s Church after a steep climb up the hill and gawp at the stunning landscapes.

Scuba Diving & Water Sports – The western coast of Barbados has great scuba opportunities amongst the beautiful beaches of fine white sand and blue-green sea. Try a dive at North Point Lighthouse, where schools of barracudas swim the edges of the reefs. Dive at Tropicana and get a rare glimpse of a Manta ray and at Church Point and Dottins, the most popular dive area. At Folkestone Underwater Park, you can go snorkeling whilst following a trail with signs. Hot beaches include Sandy Lane Beach, Brandons and Fitts Village and you will be spoilt for choice!

When To Go
