In 1959 Khao Yai was declared a nature reserve and is now home to 153 different species of animals, that are protected by law.

Within this refreshing and scenic landscape, with it's bizarre mountains, there is still untouched jungle, mountain streams and many waterfalls, with a preserved animal world, which includes wild elephants, buffaloes, deer's porcupines, varieties of monkeys, parrots and parakeets, huge hornbills and another 250 species of birds. There are even tigers, clouded leopards and bears living here. A unique experience awaits you at dusk, when you see more than one million bats fly out and leave their daytime home in the caves.

Itinerary
Day 01. Pickup between 9.00 and 9.30 a.m. at your hotel. Drive from Bangkok in 2 1/2 hours to the Khao Yai Garden Lodge and check in. Our first trip starts at 2.00 p.m. to visit the holy stalactite cave and the marble temple donated by the Crown Prince. Back at the Lodge at abound 4.15 p.m. Around 5.00 p.m. we take the car and drive to the bat caves, and can see more than one million bats swarming out of their caves to hunt for nightly food - a unique and most interesting experience. From the bat cave drive directly into the national park. Our night tour starts through mountain forest and grassland, to watch the nightly anima l world from a ranger car, illuminated by special halogen spotlights. Various species of deer, wild cats, wild board, porcupine can be seen and with a bit of luck elephants at the salt licks. Back at the Lodge at 7.00 p.m. for dinner and overnight.
Day 02. The following morning, after breakfast, we explore the different types of forest and drive high up into the mountains of Khao Yai National Park. Using the elephant trails for an easy hiking at first about three hours, to watch macaques, gibbons, some species of the rare hornbills and many another birds, insects reptiles, orchids , ferns and nice plant life at the forest. Even tigers are sometimes seen. After we visit a big waterfall, where you can swim and take lunch. From the cliffs at 1270 m above sea level, we can admire the magnificent view over Khao Yai. Nightsafari until around 08.00 pm. Depending on the season and time of the year, you may see flowering trees and wild orchids, with different beautiful butterflies fluttering through the fragrant jungle air. The jungle has an impressive and unforgettable beauty, bizarre climbing plants, rare palm trees and ferns.
Day 03. After breakfast we visit a typical country market, where we will find many beautiful and impressive subjects, or drive to a very quiet and peaceful forest. Here we explore a sandstone labyrinth with 2000 years old rock paintings. On the bizarrely formed rocks grow fig trees whose roots clinch to the rocks and thousands of lianas hanging down from the top. We hear only the birds singing and the sound of Squirrels. Back to the Lodge for lunch. At about 2.00 p.m. we will start our return trip to Bangkok.
