Itinerary
Day 01. Arrive Kuching - Arrive KCH International Airport in the morning, meet and transfer to Abell Hotel (3*).
Day 02. Kuching City Tour - Morning, pick up from your hotel and depart for Kuching city tour to see most of the places of attraction around this historical city. Drive to see the gigantic cat statue, the mascot of Kuching city at Padungan before cruising through China Town. Stop at the Tua Pek Kong Temple, one of the oldest temples in Sarawak. From the temple, you can get a good view of the imposing Fort Margherita. Pass by the traditional Malay houses built on stilts. Winding through the heart of the city, look out for a majestic looking Astana, the former palace of White Rajah, but now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak, the old Colonial Law Court House. Then, pass through the Clock Tower and a granite obelisk built in memory of Rajah Charles Brooke. Visit to the Sarawak Museum, the highlight of the tour and is acknowledged as long of the finest museum in the world. Return to hotel. Afternoon, free at own leisure. Overnight at Abell Hotel. Day 03. Semenggoh Orang Utan Centre & Bidayuh Longhouse - Morning, pick up and depart to Semenggoh Orang Utan Centre. The centre consists of 740 hectare of virgin forest and it is home to orang utans . You will have an opportunity to observe how the orang utans are being rehabilitated and trained to fend for themselves before being released into the wild. Visitors are allowed to study and observe the orang utans at a distance. After Semenggoh, depart to Annah Rais, a Bidayuh Longhouse, is located about 75km from the city. The Bidayuhs are known for the expert craftsmanship with bamboo and you will notice this in the structure of the longhouse. Tour the longhouse with your guide and observe the leisure-paced lifestyle of the natives. Among the interesting relics are the “Canon of Peace” and several human skulls which are about 100 years old. After tour, return to Kuching. Afternoon, free at own leisure. Overnight at Abell Hotel. Day 04. Bako National Park - Morning, pick up from your hotel in Kuching and depart for a 45 minute drive to Bako Fishing Village. Continue by boat for a 30 minute cruise along the coast to reach Bako National Park. Visit the Park’s information centre and trek through mangrove forest to observe the mud skippers and blue – fiddler crabs. Follow the trails to look for proboscis monkeys and various species of carnivorous pitcher plants. After lunch, explore the park through monstrous rainforest trees for bird watching and other wildlife. Journey back to the jetty for boat ride to Bako Village and return to your hotel. Overnight at Abell Hotel. (Breakfast / Lunch included)
Day 05. Mangrove Cruise & Satang Island - Depart Kuching for a short drive to a local Malay village located within the Kuching Wetlands National Park. This tour takes you to cruise along the mangrove river towards South China Sea on the look-out for the elusive Irrawaddy dolphin (sightings dependant on tidal conditions) to Satang Island. The island is part of the Talang – Satang National Park and is protected for the conservation of Sarawak Sea turtles. Visit the turtle hatchery and learn about the conservation work being done to help these endangered sea creatures. Enjoy a pack lunch. Go snorkeling in the clear waters or simply relax on the island’s white sandy beach. Cruise back to village and return to Kuching. Overnight at Abell Hotel. (Breakfast / Pack Lunch included)
Day 06. Sarawak Cultural Village / Damai Beach Resort - Morning, pick up from your hotel and proceed to Sarawak Cultural Village. The award winning Sarawak Cultural Village is a unique “living museum’ on a sprawling 17 acre site. It has seven representative ethnic houses with natives residing and making handicrafts. A trip here will enable you to gain a comprehensive insight into colourful traditions and cultures of the various races in Sarawak. Watch daily live performances highlighting the many vibrant dances of the people of Sarawak from an air-conditioned theatre. After tour, transfer to Damai Beach Resort. Check in.
