Itinerary
Day 01. Transfer from the airport to a centrally located hotel. Arrival at Armenia International airport Zvartnots , transfer to a centrally located hotel.
Day 02. Yerevan – short city tour – Echmiadzin – Zvartnots – Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. Tour to Matenadaran, which is one of the richest and fascinating depositories of manuscripts and books in the world. The collection now numbers over 100,000 manuscripts, documents, and fragments and dates back to 405, when Saint Mesrop Mashtots created the Armenian alphabet. Afterwards you will go to Cascade, a marvelous place for walking. Here you will visit Cafesjian center for Arts. The guide will show you the main streets, Opera House, Republic Square. Visit to Ararat Brandy Company. Degustation. Afterwards, you will go to Echmiadzin - the centre of Armenian Apostolic Church, where Holly Cathedral and the residence of Catholicos of All Armenians are located. Later you will visit Zvartnots – temple of ruins. Return to Yerevan. Overnight.
Day 03. Yerevan – Saghmosavank – Ohanavank – Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to one of the most picturesque sights of Armenia, Saghmosavank monastery. The main church of the monastery, St. Zion, was built in 1215. Having explored the unique interior of Saghmosavank with our tour guide, you will be welcomed by a famous Armenian artist. Also, you will explore the astonishing works of art. Ohanavank is also worth seeing. The monastery stands on the edge of the Qasakh River Canyon, and its territory is adjacent to the village of Ohanavan. The oldest part of the monastery is the single nave basilica of St. Karapet (i.e. Holy Forerunner, John the Baptist) that was founded at the beginning of the fourth century by St. Gregory the Enlightener, who baptized Armenia into the world’s first Christian nation. The wooden roof of the early church was replaced in 554 AD with a thatch cover, and the basilica itself underwent profound renovation between 1652 and 1734. Return to Yerevan. Overnight.
Day 04. Yerevan - Garni – Geghard – Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. A tour to Geghard, another incredible ancient Armenian monastery, entirely carved out of a mountain, will be followed by a visit to the magnificent temple of the Sun in Garni, the only pagan temple in Armenia, where you can admire the unique mosaic baths and ruins of the royal palace. Return to Yerevan. Overnight.
Day 05. Yerevan – Lake Sevan – Dilijan (Goshavank) – Alaverdi (overnight at Dzoraget hotel) Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Lake Sevan - the Blue Pearl of Armenia. Sevan is one of the largest alpine lakes in the world; it is situated at an altitude of 1896 meters above sea level. On a clear and sunny day it looks like a piece of sky that have descended to the earth among the mountains. A visit to Sevanavank monastery located on the northwestern shore of Lake Sevan. According to an inscription in one of the churches, it was founded in 874 AD by princess Mariam. Afterwards tour to Dilijan. In the upper reaches of the Agstev river, there is the Goshavank -a monastery which ensembles the Dilijan district. It is situated in dense oak woods, in the gorges of small but turbulent mountain rivers. The local terrain and scenery determined the compositional peculiarities of this complex. You will continue your way to Alaverdi and have overnight at Dzoraget hotel.
Day 06. Aghveran – Alverdi – Akhtala (participation in the festival) – Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Akhtala to take part in the Barbeque festival (the time will be fixed in advance). The aim of the event is to show and tell about Armenian traditional cuisine. During the festival different game competitions will be carried out, excursion programs will be organized. You will listen to modern and national music, be the witness of dances, theatrical performances. Also, professional barbeque makers will compete. You will taste them and have leisure time. Return to Yerevan. Overnight.
Day 07. Yerevan – short city tour /Vernissage/ Breakfast at the hotel. Tour to Vernissage, an open air-market where you can admire our art and craft, buy souvenirs. Free time. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
Day 08. Departure day. Early breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport.
