It is ideal for complete beginners with no diving experience to train to become a PADI Instructor (or we can customise to PADI Divemaster) over a 6 1/2 month period, as it is a standard that an individual cannot enroll on a PADI Instructor course until they have been a certified diver for at least 6 months.
If you do not have any diving certification, then you can start with the PADI Open Water course (any day any time!!!) and continue all the way through to PADI Divemaster in approximately 6-8 weeks. utila divemaster coral watch programThen you can continue to act in the capacity of a Divemaster at our facility, gaining additional dives, assisting on classes, conducting scuba reviews, and leading divers over the next few months, even taking time out to explore a little of the amazing countries and cultures in Central America. This scuba diving internship is a great way to gain additional experience, and once the date from your Open Water certification has reached 6 months you can enroll in the PADI IDC with us. For some interns who have several months before they join us in Honduras, another option is that they take the PADI Scuba Diver/Open Water diver course locally near their home so they already have a certification date, and when they join us need to spend less time on the island of Utila to complete the training, but can still get a good level of experience.
