The land package starts with the arrival at Cassidy International Airport. Our staff will meet the plane (there is only one flight per week from Fiji as well as Hawaii), and transport you to the lodge, which is about an half hour drive. The lodge staff will be ready with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee. Depending on the time of arrival, you can settle into the comfortable, air-conditioned rooms for a post flight relax, sit outside under the covered area and take in the atmosphere, or start preparing fishing tackle.

The head guide will discuss fishing options such as locations, species, guide allocation and times with you at your earliest convenience, keeping in mind that you are now on "Pacific Island Time" and that you are now going to relax, and fish at your own tempo.

The fishing is nothing short of spectacular: cruising bonefish abound, and up to 15 different species are around. We have the facility to go out to the "bluewater" and chase species such as yellowfin tuna, sailfish, Wahoo and other toothy species. If you decide to chase bonefish, there are different opportunities: flats wading and sight casting is the most popular form, but there are also opportunities for "blind" fishing on drop-offs, chasing that elusive 10 pound fish......It is possible to fish different areas every day that you are there: it is a large and very "fishy" area! We have two high speed boats: the fastest and newest on the island. There are, of course, also the traditional outriggers available as well...All of our boats are in direct radio contact with base station, so safety is of great importance.

Our food is as good as it gets on the island. Remember that all the meat is flown in from Hawaii, so variety can be limited to pork, beef and chicken.. Fresh fish is always available., and fresh lobster can be a treat! Fresh fruit and vegetables are also flown in on the weekly flight. Breakfast is served at an greed time: this is a hearty cooked meal. Lunch is a packed sandwich or two, with fruit and plenty of fresh cooled water, all of which is transported in an ice box on the boat. Dinner is the main meal of the day: once again, this is served at an agreed time...

Ikari House is a very comfortable new building, with 4 double rooms. There are hot showers in all the en-suite bathrooms, and the rooms are serviced daily. All the rooms have air-conditioning. There is a covered outside area, for relaxing and discussing the day's activities over a cold beer or two. Fresh sashimi and snacks are served here every afternoon after the days fishing. There is a designated freshwater rinsing area to rinse the salt water off the fishing gear, as well as a place to dry any wet clothing, etc.

After a week's fishing you will agree with us that Ikari House is certainly THE place to be on Christmas Island, tiny jewel in the Pacific Ocean.
