Day 01. Arrival Vientiane(L) Discover this small capital of Laos, such as That Luang stup, the national monument which is very important for all Laotiens, symbolizing at the same time of the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. Visit also of Vat Sasaket, the temple going back to 1818 BC, the only one to be saved by the raid of Siamese in 1828 BC. Vat Pha Kaew, old Royal Temple transformed into Museum, Patouxai the victory gate, national museum, morning market and of Vat Chan which is not far from the Mekong River, where we admire it to lay down sun
Day 02. Vientiane – Hinboun Today we change the citylife for the real local rural life in the Nam Hinboun rivervalley. The Hinboun nature park is noted for it’s magnificent zigzag edged limestone formations, exciting caves, underground rivers and traditional villages. We overnight in tastefully built Lao-style wooden bungalows.( B,L,D)
Day 03. Hinboun – excursion to the Kong Lo cave. After breakfast we leave by local boat for an excursion to the Kong Lo cave. This tunnel of limestone, over four km in length, is threaded by the Nam Hinboun river. The cave feautures rare birds, spiders, and many bats. Late afternoon you have the possibility to make an enjoyable walk trough the surrounding villages. (B,L,D)
Day 04. Hinboun – Savannakhet. Leaving the Hinboun valleys, we head for Savannakhet, a town situated on the banks of the river Mekong. Although the town’s industry is booming, it still feels as though the countrylife never has left: buffalos and chickens graze and wander trough Savannakhet. Before arriving Savannakhet, we’ll visit the That Inheng, a holy 16-th century temple. (B,L)
Day 05. Savannakhet – Tad Fane. Today’s drive will take you to the Boloven Plateau in Southern Laos. The eco- resort where you will spend the night overlooks the Tad Fane waterfalls, thundering down in a 300 meter deep gorge. From here you can explore diverse nature trails, varying in length and difficulty. You might spot some rare mammals and birds. (B,L,D)
Day 06. Tad Fane – Champassak – Khone island. Our local guide will pick you up from the resort and after crossing the Mekong with a local ferry, you’ll visit the archaeological site of Wat Phou in Champassak. The original Hindu temple is thought to have been built 800 years ago. Late afternoon a boat will take you to the tranquil island of Ban Khone. (B,L,)
Day 07. Khone island – Don Khong island. Done Khone offers you fascinating glimpses of river-oriented village life. It’s also here where you can spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphin. Later on we start a walking tour , visiting some of the fourthousand islands spread in the mighty river The Mekong. On the way we’ll pass some charming villages where the local people live from making rice paper. (B,L,)
Day 08. Don Khong island – Pakse. On the way to Pakse you can enjoy an one hour ride on elephant to the mountain ‘Asa’. From the top of Phou Asa you’ll have splendid views on the surrounding area’s. Our tour will end in Pakse. (B,L)
