Tour Highlights can include:

Petropolis - This entails a drive of about an hour (65kms) up into the beautiful mountains and jungles behind Rio, to the Regal town of Petrópolis and then a visit to it's Imperial Museum. One also gets to see the house in which Alberto Santos Dumont invented the motorized airplane ... and the wrist-watch ... and ... and ...; the cathedral, where Pedro II (Brazil's 2nd emperor) and his family are buried; the crystal palace, where princess Isabel held concerts for the common mortals; and the "Quitandinha", formerly a casino built in the Tudor style. Here one can lunch choosing from a restaurant on the lake-shore, or one within the "Quitandinha" itself. This tour usually takes around 5 - 6 hours.

Paraty - Paraty is a long, yet well worth it, drive along the southbound coast of Rio de Janeiro state. One leaves Rio quite early, so as to reach the "Saveiro" ship's departure (11am) for a 4-hr-cruise through the innumerous beautiful islands of Paraty's bay. Lunch will be offered onboard.Returning from the cruise, there's some time for souvenir shopping in Paraty's 18th-century cobble-stoned streets and houses, preserved as they were then by a UN-decree.This tour can take 12 hours; but I also arrange an overnight tour.

Buzios - This is a 10-hr-tour to one of Brazil's most known beach-resorts, made famous by Brigitte Bardot's visits there in the 1950's and '60's. Tranquil beaches; shops, bars, restaurants of cosmopolitan proportions assure diversion for all. One passes the town of Cabo Frio, so named as major ocean currents meet there: The cold one from the south and the warm one from the north. This is almost a guarantee for good weather year-round. Lunch will be offered on one of Búzios' beaches' seafood restaurants (unless you prefer another type of restaurant, of course).
