Itinerary
Day 01. AGROECOLOGY-PERMACULTURE - Travel through beautiful scenery (transition forest) to the farm Visit the Environmental Community School. Lunch- typical home grown food. Tour of the farm-explanation of permaculture and organic agriculture practices, composting systems, alternative technologies. See the tropical crops eg. yuca, sesame, pineapple, passion fruit, cocoa, tumeric, banana, cashew nut. Make rings with palm seed. Dinner. Make chocolate - from the bean to the dessert!
Day 02. EXCURSION UP RIVER - Plant a tree & a sample harvest of different crops. Cut banana leaves for making the “tonga” (a typical take away lunch wrapped in banana leaves). Horse trek to the humid forest where there are howler monkeys. Lunch & a swim at the waterfall. Gather tagua (vegetable ivory) and gourd for working with the following day. Dinner. Roast and grind coffee over an open fire
Day 03. CULTURAL DAY - Milk cow and make cheese. Cut tagua to make rings & pendants. Fish river shrimp. Lunch. Visit the giant fig tree. Make your own cups and spoons from gourd. Apply local medicinal clay face mask and fresh aloe vera from the farm
