It takes 45 minutes to reach the El Yunque National Forest (Rain Forest). In the Rain Forest the bus will stop at the waterfall “La Coca”, the Yocahu Tower (1575 feet above sea level), and then the driver/guide will lead you to the Palo Colorado Trail. Here you will be given about 30 minutes to walk from the upper to the lower level of the trail. Or if you wish, you can take a 1 hr. moderately stressful hike with a waterfall (swimming). We suggest you dress casual with tennis shoes. Bring an umbrella or raincoat.

Along the roadside, this trip will allow you to see some of the predominant trees species like the Ausubos, Yagrumos, Guaraguaos Magnolia Splendens, Philodendrons, the giant Tree Fern (Alsophila Briophia), Almond Trees, Flamboyans, Moca, Breadfruits and many others. Enjoy the beauty of the hybrid hibiscuses the sleepy ones, white and yellow ginger lilies, and helicons. Bromeliads may be hooked on the tree trunks or they may be perching on tree branches. Watch and see the lizards, among them the Anolis cristatellus or the green ones, Anolis cuvieri. Listen attentively for the sound of the tree from, El Coquí. See if you could find the boxes for the endangered Amazon parrot. Bird watch, Relax! Throughout the years we have seen how the forest leaves the visitor transformed, rejuvenated and reinvigorated.

You can add on an afternoon at the beach (price $78pp):-

Peace, serenity, be still as you watch the entire scenery in Luquillo Beach. Your body adapts to the temperature of the water. Float, swim, wear your mask and listen to the sound of the ocean, relax. Coconut Palm trees become your umbrella, while Greater Antillean Grackle birds, Pitirres, and Monk parakeets build nesting sites. The beach has changing room facilities, showers, First Aid Station, gift shops and kiosks. Enjoy it!
