Humpback whales migrate to Tonga every year. They arrive in Ha’apai at the beginning of July and stay to late October. During this time the haunting sound of their singing can be heard in the water and if you strike it lucky, you may even have the surreal experience of watching one of these giants cruise past on a dive. But even if you are not a diver you donīt have to miss out on the thrill of getting close to a Humpback as we offer dedicated whale watching trips for small groups in the season. Humpbacks are well known for their powerful aerial displays, extensive repertoire of interesting surface behaviour, inquisitive nature and complex song.

A day out whale watching gives you the opportunity to observe these amazing animals in their natural environment and, if the circumstances present themselves, you can even slip in to the water and snorkel with them as Tonga is one of the few places in the world where this is still allowed. Trips last six hours, include educational insight and briefing, whale watching, whale swimming (when possible), whale listening with hydrophone equipment, snorkeling, all equipment, lunch and refreshments during the day.
