Itinerary
Day 01. Flights to Skopje / Sofia - Flight to Skopje / Sofia. After landing transfer to our hotel in Skopje.
Day 02. Skopje - After breakfast we take a detailed guided tour of the Macedonian capital. Skopje fascinated with a variety of architecture. Particularly noteworthy, the Muslim quarter with its huge bazaar. The Fortress Kale, of course, may just be missing some, like the "modern" Skopje, on the other bank of the river Vladar. Afternoon panoramic tour to Mount Vodno, where we expect unique views of the city. To end the day we visit the monastery Pantalemon. Dinner is waiting for us a typical meal with traditional Macedonian music. Hotel in Skopje.
Day 03. Skopje - Mavrovo - Debar Ohrid - In the morning we leave the capital and our first stop will be in the area of Mavrovo. Unique natural landscapes with many peaks 2000s, accompany us. We reach the town of Debar, where we have the opportunity to lunch. Next the trail leads through the UNESCO town of Struga and Ohrid. Here we relate our hotel for the next two nights. Dinner/Hotel in Ohrid. (200 km).
Day 04. Ohrid - Today we spend our time in this unique city. We start the tour with a small boat ride on Lake Ohrid, one of the deepest lakes in the world. The Church of St. John is probably the best catcher, here we leave the ship and it will walk through the old town, we see the Fortress of Samuel and numerous churches and monasteries. Around Ohrid are indeed more than 365 of them. Afternoon free time to dangle the soul in this beautiful region. Dinner/Hotel in Ohrid.
Day 05. Ohrid - Sveti Naum - Brajcino Bitola - Next we go to Sveti Naum. We take a romantic trip with the boat on a small lake that is fed by underground springs of the Lake Ohrid. After we will visit the unique monastery of Sveti Naum, near the Albanian border. Then we leave the Ohrid Lake and drive to Brajcino, a flagship project of the gentle nature of tourism. A short hike along the wild rivers shows us the uniqueness of this region near the Greek border. In the afternoon we reach Bitola, the former principal city of the country at the time of the Ottomans. Many grandiose building as well as the lovely pedestrian zone enchant us. Dinner/Hotel in Bitola. (200 km)
Day 06. Bitola - Prilep Strumica - In the morning we leave Bitola and will visit the "Hanging Monastery" in Prilep, built like a bird's nest in the rocks. A wine tasting at lunch awaits us. Macedonia is indeed a famous wine country. Then directly to Strumica, where we can admire the unique waterfalls. Dinner/Hotel in the Strumica region. (200 km)
Day 07. Strumica - Skopje / Sofia - Flight home - Now it is time to say goodbye to the beautiful Macedonia. We drive to the airport in Skopje and Sofia. (If Skopje is the visit of Veles possible)
