Day 01. Met on arrival from your flight or picked up from Colombo hotel. Leave for Negombo a characteristic fishing town north of Colombo. Traditional local fishing craft like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran bring seer, skip jack, herring and mullet & amber jack, while lobster & prawn are caught in the lagoon. Proceed to the Ranweli Resort for dinner and overnight.
Day 02. Today you will leave for Anuradhapura. You will also be visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage en-route. The orphanage for baby elephants was set up by the National Zoological Gardens. The orphanage was established to feed, nurse & house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers. The feeding and bathing times are a joy to watch and of course is the highlight of the day. You will be staying overnight at Anuradhapura.
Day 03. Sightseeing of the ancient city of Anuradhapura, considered the birthplace of Sinhala civilization & one of the world’s largest archeological sites. It is considered as the greatest monastic city of the ancient world, & was founded in the 5th century BC. Proceed to Giritale for overnight.
Day 04. Leave on an excursion to Polonnaruwa, the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century AD. This ancient city is today one of the most beautiful cent ers of this island's cultural heritage Arrive at Giritale for dinner and overnight.
Day 05. Leave for Kandy the capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which fell to the British in 1815. This hill capital is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; the longest in Sri Lanka. Kandy is one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka & is famous for it’s temple of the tooth, one of the most venerated Buddhist temples in the world. Dinner and overnight will be in a Hotel in Kandy.
Day 06. Leave for Nuwara Eliya after breakfast. Located in the centre of the hill country also called the “Hill station”, Nuwara Eliya is a ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with its soft cool climate. Proceed to Ella in the afternoon. Ella is blessed with some of the most beautiful views, you could find in Sri Lanka. This small town is used as a base for plenty of trekking expeditions to the surrounding countryside. Overnight will be at Ella/ Bandarawela.
Day 07. Today you will be leaving the beautiful mountains behind and entering the jungles of Uda Walawe National Park in a 4WD to see our famous elephants on an afternoon safari. Herds of elephant can be seen along the river during the dry season, which is usually between May & September. Proceed to the south coast of Tangalle in the evening for dinner and overnight at a beach resort .
Day 08. After a comfortable breakfast, you can relax in the morning or take a canoe ride in the nearby lagoon. Drive along the southern coastline passing white sandy beaches to arrive at Unawatuna or Galle. Overnight will be at a hotel in Galle.
Day 09. Transfer to Colombo or airport.
