Northland gets its nickname "the winterless north" because of the 2000 hours sunshine the region is drenched in each year. All this warm weather combined with the geographical diversity and natural beauty makes the far north an absolute must-do on any traveller's bucket list.
The area is also full to the brim of history. As “the birth place of our nation”, Hokianga Harbour was the landing place for Maori explorers first canoes over 1000 years ago. Kupe was the explorers name and many Maori tribes are able to trace their ancestry back to him.
But it’s not all history and we have waves to surf, beautiful reefs and wrecks to dive, sand dunes to slide down, fish to catch, live music to dance to, beaches to walk drive and sail on, forest to rejuvenate in... and that’s not to mention all the adventures that just happen along the way.
