7. The Serengeti Wildebeest Migration – Tanzania, Eastern Africa
Prepare yourself for one of world’s most stunning wildlife events with The Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration, which is also known as ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’.  This amazing spectacle is the longest and largest movement of herds in the world with approximately 1.4 million wildebeest migrating. The wildebeest head for the hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara and as well as wildebeest there are also zebra and gazelle making the dangerous journey clockwise covering over 1,800 miles each year in search of the rain ripened grass. The semi-annual occurrence is also classed as one of the ten natural travel wonders on the planet. The Serengeti ecosystem is located in north-western Tanzania and spans 30,000 km2. The area has several national parks and game reserves and the word Serengeti comes from the Maasai language meaning “Endless Plains”. It is estimated that 70 larger mammal species are found here including blue wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffaloes.

6. Travel the Ganges – Haridwar, India, South Asia
The Ganges holds an important cultural and religious significance to the many people that live on its banks. The Ganges is thought to be a goddess by Hindus and thousands of locals make the pilgrimage every morning into the water to pray and to wash away their sins. It is believed that in order for you to reach heaven your body must touch the Ganges. As part of a long-standing tradition, Hindus are brought to the Ganges to be buried. The banks are lined with temples of which those around Haridwar, Allahabad and Varanasi are said to be particularly auspicious areas in which to bathe.

5. Cruise on the Amazon River – Brazil, South America
Make your next trip a true adventure with a cruise down the mighty Amazon River in Brazil. Wonder at the lush rainforests and the biodiversity of both animal and plant life. The nature and landscapes that you have only seen so far on documentaries will come to life as you are guided along the river and as you make you way on land. Popular stops are Iquitos, Santarem, Parintins, Manaus and Boca de Valeria, although the Amazon, which is the longest river in the world, actually runs through nine countries. The Paine Circuit is dominated by the glacier landscapes of ice lakes and tundra plains. Hike in the National Park and watch the guanaco graze.

Take a cruise on the majestic Yangtze River and witness the beautiful scenery along the way. See rich landscapes as you travel through the mists uncovering ancient cities along the way. There are a wealth of options centred on how long you would like to cruise for with the longest route being from Chongging to Shanghai which will take a week. The full route is the most rewarding with opportunities to visit the Fengdu ghost city and the Three Gorges where the cruise boat passes through the Qutang Gorge, then Wuxia Gorge before entering the dam. You can also see the ancient city of Wuhan on the Yangtze and Hanjiang rivers. Here you can see Mt. Huangshan and on to ancient Nanjing.

Travel the Alaskan Highway and witness the stunning natural landscapes and soak up the peace and quiet. Drive from British Columbia through the Yukon and on into Alaska. On the way you can swim at the Liard Hot Springs, see reindeer near Whitehorse (Yukon) and visit the Santa Claus House in North Pole.
